Once a key is in use, two pages in the menu under “Observe” answer two different questions: “Live” shows what has just arrived, “Analytics” shows how it adds up over time. This post shows both. The film below shows them on the real dashboard with sample data, silent and with short captions. The text under it says the same in words, so you can follow along without playing the film.
The film in short
The film opens “What is arriving right now”, points at the table of submissions, filters the “Verdict” to “Suspicious”, scrolls to the card “What the confidence means”, then opens the “Analytics” page, picks “90 days” and ends on the split “Human / Bot”. The visitors in the sample data are scripts; the film makes no statement about how many real visitors a site gets or how many a setting stops. It has no sound and does not start by itself.
Step 1: the live list
“Live” lists the latest sightings for this key, newest first. Each row shows the time, the event (for example “submit”), the verdict, the confidence on a small scale, the page, the form, the country and the nonce; “View” opens the entry. Above the table you can search by nonce, event or page, filter the “Verdict” (“All verdicts”, “Human”, “Suspicious”, “Bot”) and choose how often the list refreshes (“Manual”, “5 s”, “10 s”, “30 s”, “60 s”) or press “Refresh now”.
Step 2: read the confidence
Below the table, “What the confidence means” shows the scale from 0.00 to 1.00 in three bands: “below your threshold”, “let through” and “confidently human”. The page says the value is neither a percentage nor a grade: it is the confidence with which we recognise a human. Where your threshold sits is up to you, under the security policy of the key (see set up the security policy).
Step 3: Analytics over a period
“Analytics” offers a “Period” (“24 hours”, “7 days”, “30 days”, “90 days”) and a “Comparison” (“no comparison”, “previous period”, “previous year”). Tabs below lead to “Traffic”, “Pages”, “Devices”, “Block Reasons”, “Block Log” and “Confidence distribution”. The overview shows total requests and the split into human, suspicious and bot, the “Daily Requests” chart, “Human / Bot” and the “Captcha Solve Rate”. Where no challenge was shown, the page says so instead of inventing a rate.
What the film does not show
Alert rules sit on their own page in the same menu; they depend on your plan and are not part of the film. How to read a single entry is shown in understand the result. The documentation page for analytics lists everything the page offers.
