Two pages in your account answer the questions about money: “Manage subscription” for the plan and its usage, and “Billing & Invoices” for invoices, payment methods, billing address and the data processing agreement. This post shows both. The film below shows them on the real dashboard with a new account, silent and with short captions. The text under it says the same in words, so you can follow along without playing the film.
The film in short
The film opens “Manage subscription”, points at the “Usage History” and the card “Available plans”, then opens “Billing & Invoices”, and clicks through the tabs “Payment methods” and “AVV / DPA”. The account in the film is new: it has no invoices and no DPA. The film selects no plan, enters nothing and pays nothing. It has no sound and does not start by itself.
Step 1: your plan and its usage
“Manage subscription” opens with four tiles: “Current plan”, “Price”, “Next billing” and “Payment method”. A free account shows “Free”, an amount of zero and “No active subscription.”. Below, “Usage History” shows your API usage over the last 12 months; “Current Month” counts the requests against the limit of your plan.
Step 2: compare the available plans
“Available plans” lists the plans you can choose with their price and what they include: “Domains”, “Requests / month”, “Team seats”, “Retention” and “Features”. Your own plan is marked as the current one; each other plan has a “Select” button. The prices on this page are the ones of the pricing page; the film does not read them out and does not select a plan.
Step 3: Billing & Invoices
“Billing & Invoices” has four tabs. “Invoices” lists your invoices (“No invoices yet.” for a new account). “Payment methods” says that the payment method is managed by Stripe and that card and SEPA details are held by Stripe, never by us; “Manage at Stripe” takes you there. “Billing address” holds the address on your invoices. “AVV / DPA” shows the data processing agreement: you are the controller, we are the processor, and the DPA is tied to a version, so a new version asks for your consent again. Without an accepted DPA you cannot create a server key (see public key and server key).
What the film does not show
The film shows no invoice, no payment and no change of plan, because a new account has none of them. The documentation page for billing describes plans and invoices in detail.
