Protect Avada Forms from spam with a captcha, step by step

Marc Wagner·October 7, 2026·4 min read

Avada has its own form builder, Avada Forms, and SilentShield protects it with one switch. This guide shows the four steps with screenshots. It was tested on 7 October 2026 with Avada 7.11.7, Fusion Builder 3.11.7, SilentShield 2.15.14 and WordPress 7.1.2. How to choose the captcha method and the other protection layers is covered in the general setup guide. The test used the plugin’s own captcha layers without an API key; the compatibility list for the SilentShield API is in the WordPress guide.

Step 1: Build your Avada form

Avada Forms list in the WordPress admin with one form called “Contact form” and a notice from SilentShield: “SilentShield is active but not protecting any form yet”, listing Avada, Contact Forms 7, WordPress Comments and further detected form plugins, with the buttons “Choose what to protect” and “Not now”

Create the form under Avada → Forms and place it on a page. Until you switch a form plugin on, SilentShield shows a notice on every admin page: “SilentShield is active but not protecting any form yet”, with the form plugins it detected on your site.

Step 2: Switch on Avada in SilentShield

SilentShield Forms page: the Avada integration is switched on with the badges “Detected” and “Not tested yet”, and the Avada form “Contact form” with ID 9 is listed below it

Open SilentShield → Forms and switch on Avada. Your Avada form is listed below the entry. The switch saves immediately, there is no Save button to press. At the time of writing, the badge next to Avada reads “Not tested yet” (for Contact Form 7 it reads “Fields detected”). The captcha itself worked in our test, as the next steps show.

Step 3: Check the form as a visitor

Avada contact form with the fields Name, Email and Message and, above the Send button, the math captcha “Captcha 5 * 3 = ?” with a reload button and an answer field

Open the page in a private browser window. Administrators and logged-in users skip all checks by default, so a test while you are logged in shows nothing. With the math captcha chosen, the form shows the question with a reload button above the Send button.

Step 4: Test a wrong answer

Avada form after a wrong answer: the fields still hold the entered values and the text “Captcha check” appears above the captcha question “10 + 4 = ?”, whose answer field contains 99

Enter a wrong answer and click Send. The form is not sent, and the text “Captcha check” appears above the captcha field. In our test it was plain text without any red styling.

Then reload the form and answer correctly. In our test the server accepted the submission and the captcha renewed. Which confirmation a visitor sees is set in the confirmation options of your Avada form.

What to know

  • The captcha method, the timer, the gibberish detection and the rules apply to Avada forms like to every other form. See the general setup guide.
  • The Avada integration is detected through the Avada theme itself, so the Avada theme has to be active.
  • If a caching or optimisation plugin delays JavaScript until the first interaction, exclude SilentShield’s scripts from that; the WordPress guide lists the file names.
